A resilient Orzhov midrange deck that grinds value with recursive threats, powerful planeswalkers, and efficient removal.
Liesa, Forgotten Archangel returns your creatures to hand when they die, making sacrifice and removal-heavy opponents struggle. Teysa Karlov and Ratadrabik of Urborg amplify death triggers, while Elenda, Saint of Dusk and Braids, Arisen Nightmare turn those deaths into tokens and card advantage. Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines doubles all enter-the-battlefield triggers, including Loran of the Third Path and Archon of Emeria. Sheoldred, the Apocalypse punishes drawing and pairs with Phyrexian Arena and other draw effects to drain opponents. Liliana, Dreadhorde General and Elspeth Resplendent provide token armies and card advantage, while Sheoldred, Whispering One offers reanimation and attrition.
Mulligan hands with fewer than two lands or no early interaction. Keep hands with two to four lands, a turn-two play such as Thalia, Luminarch Aspirant, or Phyrexian Arena, and at least one removal spell. Against aggro, prioritize early blockers and sweepers; against control, keep card-advantage engines and planeswalkers.
Early: deploy disruptive creatures like Thalia and Anointed Peacekeeper, trade removal efficiently, and set up Phyrexian Arena or Tocasia's Welcome. Mid: resolve Sheoldred, Elesh Norn, or a planeswalker, then use Teysa/Ratadrabik value loops and sweepers to stabilize. Late: close with Lyra Dawnbringer, Massacre Wurm, or recursive threats from Liesa; grind out with Liliana, Dreadhorde General and Reckoner Bankbuster.
Fast combo and graveyard decks can race before your value engines come online. Heavy artifact/enchantment removal can disrupt your draw engines. Color-intensive spells require careful land sequencing, and mass exile effects like Farewell can bypass Liesa's recursion.
