Selesnya Cat Protection
StandardDeck Strategy
A Selesnya cat tribal deck that uses ample protection spells to keep its creatures safe, along with card advantage from Loot and anthem effects from Patchwork Banner to overwhelm opponents.
Pawpatch Recruit and Prideful Parent provide early cat bodies; Ambitious Augmenter ramps and fixes mana; Loot draws cards and can become a threat; Patchwork Banner buffs all cats; Voice of Victory and Loran's Escape grant indestructible and hexproof, making creatures resistant to removal.
Keep hands with at least 3 lands, a cat (Pawpatch or Prideful), and a protection spell. Avoid hands with no early plays or all protection but no creatures.
Early: Play a cat and protect it with Loran's Escape or Surge of Salvation. Use Ambitious Augmenter to ramp. Mid: Deploy Loot for card flow and Patchwork Banner to pump the team. Late: Use Quilled Greatwurm or Preposterous Proportions to close out the game.
Vulnerable to board wipes that exile (e.g., Sunfall) since indestructible doesn't help. Flyers can be problematic. Relies on combat, so trample or reach can be an issue.
