Deck Strategy
Concept
A budget-friendly mono-white Angels deck that goes wide with cheap flying lifelinkers, grows the board with Giada, Font of Hope, and converts every point of lifegain into evasive pressure with Angel of Vitality and Vanguard Seraph.
Synergies
- Giada, Font of Hope puts a +1/+1 counter on every other Angel you control and taps for {W} toward Angel spells, so each Angel after her is both bigger and easier to cast.
- Healer's Hawk, Angel of Vitality and Inspiring Overseer gain life every turn, and Angel of Vitality adds 1 to each lifegain trigger, so every lifelink attack snowballs into a huge life cushion.
- Vanguard Seraph is a resilient flying vigilance Angel that both blocks, attacks, and pads your life total, keeping you stable while your air force builds up.
- Sheltered by Ghosts exiles an opposing threat while protecting one of your Angels and granting it lifelink and ward, and Banishing Light plus Valorous Stance answer key blockers or save an Angel from removal.
- Youthful Valkyrie gets a +1/+1 counter each time another Angel enters, so it quickly becomes a cheap flying threat alongside Giada.
Mulligan Strategy
- Keep hands with 2-4 lands and a one- or two-drop creature (Healer's Hawk, Youthful Valkyrie, Giada, Font of Hope, Leonin Vanguard).
- Keep hands that contain at least two creatures and one removal spell (Sheltered by Ghosts or Banishing Light).
- Mulligan any 0-, 1-, or 6+-land hand, and any hand with no creatures.
- Because the mana base enters tapped and is thin on white sources, mulligan hands without at least one Scoured Barrens, Orzhov Guildgate, or Arid Archway.
Game Plan
- Early: cast Healer's Hawk or Youthful Valkyrie on turn one and follow with Giada, Font of Hope or Leonin Vanguard to start the lifegain engine.
- Mid: deploy Angel of Vitality, Inspiring Overseer and Vanguard Seraph, keep gaining life each turn with your fliers, and use Sheltered by Ghosts and Banishing Light to clear blockers.
- Late: attack in the air with a pumped Angel board, using Valorous Stance to protect a key Angel and finish the game with flying damage and lifelink.
Weaknesses
- Mass removal (Day of Judgment, Fumigate, Sunfall) punishes a wide board, so avoid overextending into a sweeper.
- The land base is slow and light on white sources — a hand without colored mana can strand your Angels.
- Targeted removal on Giada, Font of Hope or a key Angel slows the deck's clock considerably.
- Faster aggro decks can race you if you stumble on mana or fail to draw lifelinkers.
