Mono-Red Rush
StandardDeck Strategy
A lean Mono-Red aggro-burn deck that curves out with cheap hasty creatures and turns a critical mass of one-mana burn and pump spells into a fast clock, aiming to win by turn 4-5 without ever needing a rare wildcard beyond two copies of Emberheart Challenger.
Emberheart Challenger grows and digs for more gas every time you cast a noncreature spell, so Shock, Burst Lightning, Torch the Tower, Felonious Rage, and Flick a Coin all pull double duty as combat tricks that both clear blockers and pump your attackers. Fanatical Firebrand is a turn-one hasty body that can be sacrificed later for the final point of damage, while Belligerent Yearling and Coruscation Mage scale up as the game goes long and reward a high spell count. Witchstalker Frenzy gets cheaper for every creature that attacked this turn, frequently becoming a one-mana removal spell on the exact turn you swing for lethal, and Felonious Rage leaves a 2/2 Devil token behind when the pumped creature dies so the pressure never stops.
Keep hands with 2-3 Mountains, at least one cheap creature, and two or more one-mana spells. Mulligan any hand with zero or one land, five or more lands, or a hand that has no action before turn three. Never keep a one-lander, even on the draw — this deck loses badly when it stumbles on mana.
Early (turns 1-2): Lead with Fanatical Firebrand or Coruscation Mage and attack every turn, holding Shock, Burst Lightning, and Felonious Rage to clear the first blocker or push extra damage. Mid (turns 3-4): Deploy Emberheart Challenger and Belligerent Yearling, attack with the whole team, and use Torch the Tower and Witchstalker Frenzy to remove anything that can profitably block. Late (turn 5+): If the board stalls, switch fully to burn mode and send every Shock, Burst Lightning, Lightning Strike, and Flick a Coin straight at the opponent's face; evasive attackers plus reach usually close the game before the opponent stabilizes.
The deck is soft to mass removal such as Sunfall, Temporary Lockdown, and Blasphemous Edict, and to cheap lifegain or big lifelink blockers that invalidate the burn plan. Flooding on Mountains or drawing only pump spells with no creature is a real risk, so mulligan aggressively for functional openers. Against token and Incubate decks, save Torch the Tower and Witchstalker Frenzy for the exact turn you swing for lethal, and try to keep one creature in hand to rebuild after a sweeper.
