Deck Strategy
Concept

A blue-black-green midrange deck that uses cheap discard and efficient removal to clear the way for evasive threats, backed by a planeswalker and value creatures that grind out the late game.

Synergies

Deep-Cavern Bat and Duress work together to shred the opponent's hand before their key plays ever land, letting your small fliers attack freely. Greedy Freebooter and Fanatical Offering-style sacrifice lines mean your cheap creatures are never wasted — when a Bat or Freebooter dies you get a Treasure, which both fixes your three-color mana and ramps you into Preacher of the Schism or Kaito, Bane of Nightmares ahead of schedule. Poison Dart Frog blocks early aggression while tapping for any color, smoothing out the Sultai mana base. Bitter Triumph, Shoot the Sheriff, and Long Goodbye answer whatever slips through your discard, and Bushwhack lets your smallest creature trade up in combat so your board stays intact.

Mulligan Strategy

Keep any hand with 3-4 lands, at least one one-mana play (Duress or Greedy Freebooter), and at least two pieces of interaction. A two-land hand with a Greedy Freebooter and a Duress is a keep. Mulligan hands with fewer than two lands, hands with no play before turn three, or hands holding three or more copies of the same expensive card. Because the deck runs eight fetch-style lands, never keep a one-land hand hoping to draw out of it.

Game Plan

Early game: lead with Duress or Greedy Freebooter, then land Deep-Cavern Bat to strip a key card and start chipping in the air. Mid game: trade removal for their threats one-for-one, deploy Preacher of the Schism to build a token army, and use Kaito, Bane of Nightmares to pressure while generating value. Hold Bushwhack for a blowout block or to push lethal. Late game: keep the board clear with Shoot the Sheriff and Long Goodbye, recur value through your creatures, and close with a token swarm plus evasive fliers or a protected planeswalker ultimate.

Weaknesses

Very fast aggro can race you before your discard and removal line up, so prioritize early interaction in those matchups. Board wipes punish your creature-heavy draws — avoid overcommitting and hold back one threat. The mana is the real weakness: with eight taplands and only a handful of dual sources, double-costed spells can be clunky, so sequence your lands carefully. Graveyard hate and heavy hand disruption can blunt your value engine, and a resolved bomb that dodges your removal can be difficult to beat.
