Selesnya Token Ascendancy
StandardDeck Strategy
A Selesnya (Green/White) go-wide token deck that multiplies Rabbit tokens and cheap white creatures, then layers enchantment buffs and combat tricks on top, finishing with the Edge of Eternities threat Cosmogoyf and the token-making Overlord of the Mistmoors.
- Hare Apparent is the engine: every copy you cast creates a 1/1 Rabbit token for each other Hare Apparent you control, so each additional copy makes the next one dramatically better and the board snowballs out of control.
- Cosmogoyf is the Edge of Eternities payoff: it is a scalable green threat that rewards the churn of cards moving through zones that our cheap spells, Clue tokens and enchantments create, and it can grow into an unstoppable blocker/attacker once the board stalls.
- Sheltered by Ghosts does two jobs at once: it exiles a troublesome blocker when it enters and leaves behind a +1/+0 lifelink Aura with ward, so our best attacker gets bigger, gains life, and becomes hard to remove while removing a problem.
- Novice Inspector's Clue token is both an extra artifact body and a card-draw engine, keeping the board presence and the card flow from ever running out.
- Bushwhack is never dead: its land mode ramps us toward Overlord of the Mistmoors (and can fix a two-land hand), while its pump mode turns a wide board of tiny tokens into lethal damage or wins a key combat.
- Take Up the Shield and Auspicious Arrival are combat tricks that also leave lasting value (indestructible and a +1/+1 counter, or Investigate), so our cheap creatures win fights and keep cards flowing.
- Overlord of the Mistmoors is the top end: a huge body that keeps making extra attackers every combat and ends games that stalled on the ground.
Keep any hand with 2-4 lands, at least two one-drop creatures (Novice Inspector, Hare Apparent, Hinterland Sanctifier, Ironpaw Aspirant) and at least one spell. Mulligan any hand with fewer than two lands, hands with only lands plus expensive spells, and hands with no turn-one or turn-two play. Because our cheap creatures are the fuel for every buff, a six-card hand that curves out is far better than a seven-card hand that does nothing until turn four.
Early: Deploy one-drops aggressively. Lead on Novice Inspector for the Clue and card flow, and jam Hare Apparent whenever you can - each additional copy makes the next one better. Do not trade tokens away; they are the fuel for our buffs and combat tricks. Mid: Use Bushwhack's land mode to hit four and five mana, and hold Take Up the Shield, Auspicious Arrival and Sheltered by Ghosts to win combats and exile the blockers that actually stop us. Drop Cosmogoyf once it is large enough to dominate the ground, since our wide board lets us play both offense and defense. Late: Cast Overlord of the Mistmoors to create a fresh wave of tokens every combat, then use leftover tricks and Bushwhack to push the final points of damage through a stalled board. Sheltered by Ghosts on a Hare Apparent or a fat Cosmogoyf lets us attack profitably into larger creatures while gaining life.
Mass removal is the biggest problem: over-committing into a sweeper loses the game, so hold back a Hare Apparent or a Bushwhack to rebuild. The deck also lacks hard removal for large threats and has no flying defense, and the mana can be awkward with heavy green and white costs, so sequence your lands carefully and race with a wide board whenever you cannot grind.
