Five-Color Collection Control
StandardDeck Strategy
A five-color Standard control deck built from the user's owned rares and mythics, using efficient common and uncommon interaction plus card draw to survive while deploying powerful one-of threats.
Opt and Phyrexian Arena smooth draws while Shock, Torch the Tower, Sheltered by Ghosts, and Hero's Downfall answer early threats. Bushwhack fixes mana or fights, and Evolving Wilds finds the right basic. Kiora ramps and draws, Bristly Bill and Mossborn Hydra grow with land drops, and Kaito, Niv-Mizzet, Ultima, and Vren provide late-game pressure. Enduring Innocence and Scavenging Ooze help stabilize life totals.
Keep hands with 2-4 lands, at least one early interaction spell, and either Opt or a two-drop play. Mulligan hands with fewer than two lands, no green or blue source for early action, or all expensive payoffs and no interaction.
Early: use Shock, Torch the Tower, and Sheltered by Ghosts to slow aggro while casting Opt and Bushwhack to fix mana. Mid: deploy Phyrexian Arena or Kiora for card advantage, use Hero's Downfall and Lightning Strike to answer key threats, and stick a planeswalker or Mossborn Hydra. Late: close with Niv-Mizzet, Ultima, Vren, or a growing Hydra while protecting yourself with removal and lifegain.
The mana base is slow and can stumble against fast aggro or heavy disruption. Many powerful threats are one-ofs, so consistency is limited. Sweepers are absent, so go-wide token strategies can overwhelm before stabilization. Graveyard and non-creature permanent strategies can also be problematic if the right answers are not drawn.
