Mono-Blue Draw Control

A mono-blue draw-control deck that uses cheap spells to protect the hand and out-card advantage the opponent until Kiora, Enduring Curiosity, and Lunar Insight take over.

Steamcore Scholar and Fblthp, Lost on the Range reward you for casting noncreature spells, so every counterspell and cantrip becomes card advantage. High Fae Trickster gives flash, letting you hold up countermagic and still draw on the end step. Lunar Insight draws a card for each instant and sorcery in your graveyard, so a long game of Opts, Negates, and Think Twices makes it a huge draw spell. Three Steps Ahead protects your board or copies your best spell.

Keep hands with at least two Islands and either a one-mana cantrip or a cheap counter. A two-land hand of Opt, Negate, and Essence Scatter is strong. Mulligan one-land hands or hands full of expensive rares such as Curator of Destinies and Lunar Insight.

Early: play Islands and hold up Spell Pierce, Negate, or Essence Scatter. Use Opt or Think Twice only when safe. Mid: resolve a value piece like Steamcore Scholar, Fblthp, or Kiora and defend it. Late: use Lunar Insight and Enduring Curiosity to bury the opponent in cards, then close with evasive attackers from Kiora, Talion's Messenger, or Curator of Destinies.

The deck has very little removal for resolved planeswalkers, enchantments, or artifacts. Fast aggro can punish a stumble, and discard or uncounterable spells hurt your game plan. Because you rely on a few one-of rares, careful timing is important.
