Niv-Mizzet Rainbow Supreme
BrawlDeck Strategy
A five-color Historic Brawl control-combo deck that uses Niv-Mizzet, Supreme as a card-drawing engine while ramping into huge threats and reanimation spells.
Roaming Throne chooses Dragon and doubles Niv-Mizzet's enters-the-battlefield triggered ability, turning a five-color board into a ten-card draw. Doubling Season doubles Treasure tokens from Gala Greeters, Professional Face-Breaker, and Hit the Mother Lode, giving extra mana to cast Niv or explosively chain spells. Hullbreaker Horror protects the board by bouncing opposing permanents whenever you cast low-cost spells like Counterspell or Deadly Dispute.
Keep hands with three or four lands and at least one ramp piece or early colored permanent. Mulligan hands that lack green sources if they contain Niv or mostly green cards. Also mulligan hands that are almost entirely expensive haymakers.
Early: play ramp spells, Signet, and setup permanents like Enduring Innocence or Urabrask's Forge to establish all five colors. Mid: cast Niv-Mizzet, Supreme with enough colored permanents to profitably draw three to five cards, then use counterspells and removal to stay ahead. Late: bury the opponent with Atraxa, Aurelia, Etali, Ghalta, Progenitus, or reanimate their whole graveyard with Rise of the Dark Realms / Breach the Multiverse.
The mana base is painful and includes some tapped lands, so aggressive red or mono-white decks can punish early life loss. The deck can stumble if Niv is countered or removed immediately. It has limited ways to protect the commander and can lose to decks that go under it with fast combo or mass discard.
