Concept

An Abzan (White/Black/Green) hatebears-midrange deck rebuilt from your Legacy Maverick shell: accelerate with cheap dorks, strip the opponent's hand, then grind them out with disruptive creatures and modal answers.

Synergies

Gilded Goose / Paradise Druid -> Archon of Emeria / Sheoldred, the Apocalypse: Your Legacy mana base (Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise, Dryad Arbor) does not exist on Arena, so Gilded Goose and Paradise Druid are the substitutes. Paradise Druid is hexproof while untapped, which mirrors Sylvan Safekeeper's ability to protect your key creature from removal. Either dork lets you land a three- or four-mana lock piece a full turn early.

Once Upon a Time + mana dorks: This is the Timeless stand-in for Green Sun's Zenith. It is free on your first turn, finds the dork or hatebear you are missing, and smooths land drops so you never stumble on the way to four mana.

Dauthi Voidwalker + Thoughtseize / Fatal Push: Every card you discard or kill is exiled with a void counter instead of hitting the graveyard, so reanimator, Phoenix, and graveyard engines have nothing to work with. Dauthi can also sacrifice itself to cast the opponent's own exiled haymaker.

Skyclave Apparition + Knight of Autumn + Archon of Emeria: This is your Maverick toolbox replacing Knight of the Reliquary and Gaddock Teeg. Apparition exiles the scariest cheap permanent, Knight of Autumn flexes between destroying an artifact/enchantment, gaining four life, or adding counters, and Archon taxes the opponent to one spell per turn while tapping down their nonbasic lands.

Demolition Field + Archon of Emeria: This is the Wasteland package. Repeated nonbasic land destruction behind a one-spell-per-turn lock can outright mana-screw greedy three-color and utility-land decks.

Endurance + Sheoldred, the Apocalypse: Endurance is a flash blocker that shuffles an opponent's graveyard away at instant speed, while Sheoldred turns every extra card the opponent draws into life loss and every draw you take into life gain, closing games against midrange and control.

Mulligan Strategy

Keep any hand with 2-4 lands, at least one turn-one or turn-two play (Gilded Goose, Paradise Druid, Thoughtseize, Once Upon a Time, Fatal Push), and at least one piece of interaction. Do not keep one-land hands even with a dork, because a single removal spell on the dork leaves you dead. Mulligan hands with no play before turn three, hands that are all reactive spells with no threat, and hands holding multiple copies of Sheoldred, the Apocalypse with no way to reach four mana. Five-card hands are fine if they contain a fetchland, a shockland, a dork, and a removal spell.

Game Plan

Early game (turns 1-2): Lead with Gilded Goose or Paradise Druid to fix colors and accelerate, or Thoughtseize to strip the opponent's best card. Use Once Upon a Time for free to find whatever you are missing. Hold up Fatal Push for their turn-two threat and avoid tapping out for nothing; trade resources one-for-one while you develop mana.

Mid game (turns 3-4): Deploy lock pieces in the right order. Against blue or combo, resolve Archon of Emeria first. Against creature decks, Skyclave Apparition their biggest permanent, then hold Knight of Autumn for the artifact or enchantment that actually matters. Against graveyard decks, drop Dauthi Voidwalker and hold Endurance for their key turn. Land Sheoldred, the Apocalypse on curve once the board is stable, then attack while removal clears blockers.

Late game (turns 5+): You are the better attrition deck. Use Demolition Field to cut opponents off colors, use Endurance to reset any graveyard setup, and lean on Sheoldred plus your recursive threat density to drain through stalled boards. Because every one of your creatures trades up on card quality, the longer the game goes the further ahead you get.

Weaknesses

This is a fair deck in an unfair format, so fast combo that ignores your hate (ritual-based Necrodominance shells, storm-style kills, or anything that wins before your lock pieces land) is the worst matchup. Heavy removal plus counterspells can strand a hand of three-mana hatebears, and sweepers undo your whole board with one card. The mana base is fetch-and-shock heavy, so aggressive red decks can punish your life total; if you take too many shockland hits you can lose to burn before Sheoldred stabilizes you. Finally, your Legacy list relies on Green Sun's Zenith, Wasteland, Karakas, Knight of the Reliquary, Noble Hierarch, Dryad Arbor, Sylvan Safekeeper, Gaddock Teeg, and Uro, none of which exist in Arena's Timeless card pool, so this build substitutes Once Upon a Time, Demolition Field, Paradise Druid, and Knight of Autumn in their place.
