Mono-Black Value Sacrifice

A competitive mono-black midrange deck that uses sacrifice synergies and hand disruption to grind out value, then closes with resilient threats.
Greedy Freebooter and Lord Skitter's Butcher create tokens and sacrifice fodder, fueling Reckoner's Bargain for card draw and enabling Bitter Triumph or Sheoldred's Edict. Deep-Cavern Bat disrupts the opponent’s hand while Preacher of the Schism provides a steady stream of card advantage. Aclazotz recurs from the graveyard to apply constant pressure.
Keep hands with 2-3 lands and early interaction (Duress, Cut Down, or a 2-drop creature). Mulligan hands with no removal against fast aggro or no discard against control.
Early: Use Duress to strip key cards, play Greedy Freebooter or Deep-Cavern Bat. Remove threats with Cut Down and Sheoldred’s Edict. Mid: Sacrifice creatures with Reckoner’s Bargain to draw, and deploy Lord Skitter’s Butcher to generate 1/1 tokens. Late: Drop Aclazotz, Vito, or Gix to take over. Aclazotz returns from graveyard, Vito drains life, and Gix draws cards.
Vulnerable to mass removal like Sunfall that wipes small creatures. Weak to graveyard hate that exiles Aclazotz. Relies on single-target removal so hexproof or indestructible threats can be problematic.
