Deck Strategy
Concept

A Simic landfall ramp deck that floods the board with lands and Food tokens for lifegain, stabilizes with blue interaction, then closes out with massive green and blue threats.

Synergies

  • Aftermath Analyst sacrifices itself to return lands from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped, re-triggering landfall payoffs like Pawpatch Recruit while setting up Lumra, Bellow of the Woods.
  • Bakersbane Duo creates Food tokens for steady lifegain, buying the turns you need to ramp into your finishers, and cracked Food keeps you above burn range.
  • Bushwhack is flexible: it can fight an opposing threat OR tutor a basic land, so it advances landfall while answering creatures.
  • Cache Grab fills the graveyard and finds lands, fueling Aftermath Analyst's recursion loop.
  • Phantom Interference and Into the Flood Maw answer opposing large creatures on the stack or battlefield, while Unable to Scream neutralizes a resolved bomb by shrinking it to a 0/2 with no abilities.

Mulligan Strategy

Keep hands with 3 or more lands plus at least one ramp or landfall enabler (Bushwhack, Cache Grab, Aftermath Analyst). Mulligan any hand with fewer than 2 lands, or no interaction at all. Ideal keep: 2-4 lands, one ramp spell, one threat, and one piece of blue interaction.

Game Plan

  • Early: Deploy cheap landfall creatures (Pawpatch Recruit, Aftermath Analyst), ramp with Bushwhack and Cache Grab, and build a lifegain cushion with Bakersbane Duo.
  • Mid: Use Phantom Interference, Into the Flood Maw, and Bushwhack fights to answer opposing big creatures; recur lands with Aftermath Analyst to keep chaining landfall triggers; begin deploying 5-6 mana bodies.
  • Late: Land Lumra, Bellow of the Woods and the Overlords to overwhelm the board; hold counterspells and bounce to protect your threats and clear lethal blockers.

Weaknesses

  • Slow against hyper-aggressive decks that punish a durdly ramp start before it stabilizes.
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate (Aftermath Analyst, Cache Grab) and to opponent counterspells aimed at expensive finishers.
  • Reliant on consistent land drops; mana screw is punishing for a landfall shell.
  • Limited hard unconditional removal for resolved giant creatures, so it leans on bounce and counters instead of true destruction.
